Quest Legal Team
Founded by Principal Lawyer Juan Perez, Quest Legal is an innovative commercial law firm that does things differently. We are a collaborative team of experienced lawyers focussed on helping our clients grow.
Founder & Principal Lawyer
Juan is the Founder and Principal Lawyer of Quest Legal. He has over 20 years experience in commercial, intellectual property, employment and banking law. He has led the consolidation of the banking licences of two of Australia’s largest banks and advised a number of financial institutions on regulatory engagement and prudential matters. Juan also has extensive experience advising on and negotiating a variety of business and franchising transactions. He provides specialised intellectual property advice for the protection of technology, software and business processes. He has over 15 years’ experience in executive leadership roles in banking and IT. In his spare time, Juan teaches karate, is known for only eating chicken wraps for lunch, and loves spending time with his family.
Paola is our Operations Manager. She runs the firm’s operations and client affairs. Paola also manages our amazing team and coordinates all HR, administrative support, and office management for the team. In her spare time Paola loves to spend time with her family, traveling, eating out and falling from planes (with a parachute). We would be lost without her.
Mark is our commercial and intellectual property lawyer with experience in technology, start-ups, franchising and estate planning. Mark is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts and a Bachelor of Laws at Macquarie University. He spends his spare time listening to music and is a FIFA accredited soccer coach. Mark is also an authority on Hawaiian shirts and is rumoured to own over 40 different ones.
James Bijen is one of our tallest lawyers with experience in family law, litigation and commercial document drafting. He holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Media and Communications along with a Juris Doctor from Macquarie University. James loves reading hard-copy newspapers (like it’s 2003) and is one of Sydney’s finest 15th division basketball power forwards. James is a regular trivia champion, and one day hopes to be a barrister.
Ace is one of our commercial and intellectual property lawyers. Prior to joining Quest Legal, Ace worked with three of Australia’s broadcasting networks (Seven Network, ABC and SBS) in Legal & Regulatory Affairs, Business Affairs, Rights Management and Content Discovery. Ace was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW in 2007 and holds a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) / Bachelor of Laws from Western Sydney University. When he’s not in the office you’ll find Ace playing, watching or talking tennis (yes, he’s a little obsessed) or taking dance classes at Sydney Dance Company, dreaming of being a Christina Aguilera backup dancer.
One part paralegal, one part insatiable caffeine addict, Elliott is our heaviest team-member and comes to us with several years of experience in family law, conveyancing and practice management. Elliott also has a wide variety of experience in other sectors, ranging from advertising to health and fitness. He spends his spare time playing music and brewing his own beer. Elliott claims to qualify as a “world-class athlete” in the “sport” of powerlifting. Quest Legal declines to comment on the matter, but we can confirm that he is a world-class lifter of our spirits.
Accounts and Digital Officer
Carlos is our Accounts and Digital Officer. He mainly works with the accounts team to ensure that the books are looking ready for each quarter, along with various other administrative tasks. He is a university student currently studying Information Systems at the University of New South Wales. He enjoys listening to music, gaming and spending time with his friends and family. Currently he’s focusing on being active and healthy to improve his overall well-being and look more like Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 70’s.
